Senior IT Engineer (Operations) - Dublin

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Operations Engineer to manage and optimize IT infrastructure and services within a dynamic and critical operational environment. This role demands an individual capable of delivering robust IT solutions, ensuring system availability, managing cloud infrastructure, and maintaining cyber security, with a keen focus on operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the administration, deployment, and management of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and on-premise systems.
• Ensure the continuous availability and reliability of IT infrastructure including servers, networks, databases, and applications.
• Implement and oversee cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and active threat monitoring and response.
• Manage and optimize IT backup, recovery, and data protection processes using tools such as Veeam and cloud-native solutions.
• Lead the installation, configuration, and management of enterprise-level networking equipment, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Oversee the patch management process for operating systems and applications, ensuring timely updates and vulnerability remediation.
• Administer and support Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Office 365, ensuring smooth user management and access control.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage IT services, troubleshoot system issues, and provide technical support to staff.
• Drive automation of infrastructure provisioning, scaling, and management using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Ensure effective monitoring of systems, servers, and networks to maintain performance, availability, and security.
• Develop and implement procedures for disaster recovery and business continuity, ensuring minimal downtime in mission-critical systems.
• Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure optimal service delivery and contract compliance.
• Support the integration of Business Intelligence (BI) tools and reporting systems to drive operational decision-making.

• Proven experience in IT operations management, with expertise in cloud computing (AWS, Azure) and on-premise infrastructure.
• Extensive knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Firewall) and infrastructure management (e.g., routers, switches).
• Strong background in cybersecurity, including threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Expertise in backup and recovery solutions, including Veeam and cloud-based backup platforms.
• Hands-on experience with server management (Windows, Linux) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Demonstrated proficiency with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Terraform).
• In-depth understanding of Active Directory, Exchange, and Office 365 administration.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior staff while working independently in high-pressure situations.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and optimization of IT systems.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools and data reporting is preferred.

• Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous.
