Network & Security Support Engineer – Full Time – Office-based in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford

The Role in Brief:
Our client, a leading ICT services and solutions provider in Ireland, is seeking a Network and Security Support Engineer to join their Network Operations and Customer Support Centre team in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in IT support who is eager to specialise in networking and security technologies.
You will work within the Network and Security Group (NSG), supported by experienced colleagues and a Technical Lead mentor, while reporting to the Support Centre Manager. The role offers exposure to a variety of technical issues and projects and includes opportunities for onsite work and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network and security-related incidents and service requests
  • Perform connectivity issue resolution across VPNs, firewalls, switches, and ISPs
  • Respond to and remediate AV/firewall alerts and other security events
  • Maintain and upgrade systems, including firmware updates and health checks
  • Collaborate with vendors such as Sophos, Cisco, HPE Aruba, and others in resolving technical issues
  • Contribute to customer projects with clearly defined deliverables and timelines
  • Maintain accurate records of actions and time logs using the Autotask ticketing system
  • Identify and report potential chargeable incidents outside contracted SLAs
  • Monitor vendor forums and industry bulletins for emerging threats and updates
  • Support colleagues and work flexibly across teams when required

This Role Will Ideally Suit You If:
  • You must hold a full Irish driving licence. Please note that a learner permit or an international driving licence is not suitable for this role.
  • You hold or are nearing completion of an Ordinary Bachelor's Degree in IT or a related field
  • You have 2+ years of experience in an ICT support role with strong customer interaction
  • You hold (or are willing to obtain within 6 months) a Cisco CCNA or Sophos Certified Engineer certification
  • You have a long-term interest in developing to Sophos Architect, Cisco CCNP, or equivalent
  • You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a customer-first mindset
  • You have a strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards learning
