The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Network & Security Engineer to support and troubleshoot customer network and security environments. This is an operational engineering role requiring strong hands-on networking experience and a structured approach to problem solving.
Mandatory Requirements
3–5 years’ relevant experience in IT support or network engineering.
Full Irish Manual driving license is required.
Strong practical knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, switching, VLANs, trunking and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP).
Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting wired and wireless business networks.
Practical experience administering firewalls, including security policies, rules, NAT and VPN connectivity.
Proven ability to diagnose Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues methodically.
Experience working directly with customers and explaining technical issues clearly.
Ability to manage incidents independently, prioritise competing issues and escalate appropriately when required.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation and ticket records.
Comfortable working in a busy operational/support environment and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot LAN, switching, VLAN, routing, DHCP, DNS and network performance issues.
Configure and support wired and wireless network infrastructure.
Administer and troubleshoot firewall and VPN environments.
Manage customer support tickets and approved network changes.
Support network installations, upgrades and refresh projects.
Work collaboratively with technical teams and provide clear diagnostics when escalating issues.
Desirable: Experience with Cisco, HPE/Aruba and Sophos Firewall technologies, plus relevant networking/security certifications such as CCNA or equivalent practical experience.
